We try to update our public calendar with the most recent information available. Check back here often for any new details as they become available, and please let us know if you think any other D.C. area Native events should be included here!

Please come to our upcoming event:

Basket-Making and Seed-Sharing time on Saturday, March 14, 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM!

March is the time to get ready to plant our gardens, and thanks to the Cherokee Nation Seed Bank, we will have a variety of heritage seed packets to distribute. Please feel free to bring your own seeds to share.

We will also be hosting a double wall basket-making workshop this month. Double walled is the traditional weaving style of the Cherokee, and our baskets are treasured throughout the world. We will use commercial round reed to learn the basic process of weaving a double walled basket. We will be working with wet reed, so please bring a towel if you plan to make a basket!

Please bring a snack or drink to share.

Special thanks to our member Jeff Keas and Splunk, Inc. who are hosting us for this event!
